Following his success in National Carpet Fitter of The Year Competition, Brian Bell began trading in 1987 as Brian Bell Carpets from a rented retail shop in Walmgate, York. As business grew the decision was made to purchase a retail property in Main Street, Fulford, York and in 2000 a large unit with more storage space at Northminster Business Park, Upper Poppleton, York was acquired. Lack of on-street parking in Fulford and logistical issues led to the retail outlet re-locating to Northminster Business Park where a new showroom has been built with easy access and free parking. We are able to offer a large selection of carpets, cushioned flooring, Karndean and laminates at competitive prices and with a professional fitting service assured.
An excellent personal service from start to finish remains our focus today and in the future.

Karndean Flooring Made from an exceptionally durable form of customised vinyl, Karndean flooring replicates all the beauty of natural flooring materials with none of the practical drawbacks. Whilst being virtually indistinguishable from the materials which inspire the designs, Karndean offers significant advantages in terms of design capability, maintenance and cost. |

Carpets and Cord Pile Yarn Fibers Flooring - There is a wide range of fibers available and each has its own specific characteristic. Fibers are sometimes blended together to produce yarns, which give the best all-round properties for a particular use. The Quality of the carpet depends upon the type of raw materials used and how well the carpets is made. Typically the following fibers and blends are used in carpet manufacturing today. Wool Flooring- Wool has been used for centuries in carpet manufacturing and its natural crimp gives it a resilience, which enables it to recover quickly from compression caused by furniture and foot traffic. Warm and soft, it is durable, does not soil easily and its naturally flame retardant with good appearance retention. It is generally acknowledged that the best carpet wools come from Britain and New Zealand. Nylon Flooring- Nylon is extremely hardwearing and resilient with one of the highest abrasion resistance fibres. It offers enormous flexibility and is available in a wide variety of yarn types, textures, colours and designs aimed at a wide range of markets. It's outstanding durability, ease of dyeing are reasons for its popularity. Polypropylene Flooring - Polypropylene is inherently stain resistant with high abrasion resistance and wear performance. It is used mainly in plain twists, loop patterns and saxonies offering, very good value for money budget products. Polyester Flooring - Polyester is light and bulky with good stain resistance, wear properties and a lustrous appearance. It is mainly used in plain very think luxury saxony type carpet and is suitable for most living areas A special melt-bond version is used in blends to enhance texture retention. Pile Yarns Flooring - All these yarns are used in 100% format but a number of blend options are now available to give specific pile yarn characteristics. These are usually technical (to enhance performance), textural (to give a particular look of feel), or economic (to reduce price). |
